My Granddaughter, Ashtin

Ashtin is 8 years old and lives with her mother, several states away from us. Because of that fact, we are not able to see her very often but she lives close to us in our hearts.

Ashtin, I want you to know
of some special feelings
that I carry with me in my heart all the time.

The feelings are about how much
I cherish you. How proud I am of you.
How many hopes and dreams I want
to come true for you.
And how happy I want you to be.

Always remember that you are
precious and unique;
there's no one in this world
who could ever take your place.

The words I want to say don't always get said
But the feelings are always felt.

You're a special person ... all your own.
But as you grow, and learn, and change
with the days, I want you to know
of one thing that will never change.
